Parade Rules & Regulations

The Conejo Valley Parade Committee (CVPC) is excited to announce that online applications for participants in the 2025 Conejo Valley Parade will open on January 2, 2025. The following includes submission requirements, review criteria, and selection procedures for all entries.

We have a target of 80 participating units in the 2025 parade. A unit may be composed of single or multiple vehicles or people.  

Whether you’re a returning participant or joining us for the first time, these guidelines will help you prepare for this much-anticipated community event. We encourage all prospective participants to carefully review the information provided to ensure a smooth application experience and successful entry into the parade lineup.

1. Parade Eligibility

  • Participation in the parade is open to individuals, groups, organizations, and businesses. No political groups will be accepted.
  • All applications to participate in the parade must be submitted online at www.ConejoValleyParade.org
  • All prospective participants must apply online in advance and receive approval from the parade organizers. Application submissions will close on March 15, 2025, at 12:00pm. No further applications will be accepted after this date.
  • All participants are required to submit the $100 dollar parade participation fee no later than March 15, 2025 in order to participate in the parade. Failure to pay the $100 fee will result in the unit’s removal from the parade lineup.

2. Acceptance and Notification

  • All entries will be notified of acceptance by March 15, 2025
  • All accepted entries must pay the $100 entry fee via the online payment portal by March 15th  in order to participate
  • If any participant has not paid their entry fee by March 15th then they will be removed from the parade lineup and may not participate
  • Qualified Entries will be reviewed from the pool of qualified Entries. The CVPC shall determine the optimum number of each Entry type to comprise the upcoming Parade’s lineup. Their review shall also consider the entrants Parade theme interpretation.
  • Any entries not chosen to be a part of the 2025 parade will be placed on a wait list in case any spots in the parade open up for additional units
  • There is no guarantee for a specific lineup position

3. Mandatory Information Session for Participants

  • Mandatory pre-parade meeting for all accepted participants. The meeting will be held via zoom and dates are to to be determined

4. Parade Theme

  • Participants are encouraged to adhere to the “Good Old Days” of Conejo Valley theme along with the 2025 parade theme of STRONG ROOTS IN WESTERN BOOTS. These themes embrace the ambience of the Old West. Creativity and enthusiasm are highly appreciated in portraying these themes, but safety is our priority.

5. Safety Regulations

  • All participants must comply with local safety regulations and ordinances.
  • Participants are responsible for ensuring the safety of themselves, their fellow participants, and spectators. This includes no flammable materials or open flames on floats, no smoke machines, no costumes that can become entangled in vehicles and floats.
  • Floats, vehicles, and walking groups must always be operated in a safe manner. 
  • All vehicles and floats must be in fully operating condition. 
  • Spacing: 200 feet between entries to ensure smooth flow.
  • Adults must always supervise children. No participants under 21 years of age without a supervising adult.
  • Entries must maintain movement unless directed by Parade officials.
  • Zero tolerance for unsafe conduct or unauthorized drones.
  • Participants must not throw items into the crowd. This includes refraining from throwing candy, necklaces, paper items and flyers.

6. Parade Route and Timing

  • The parade will commence promptly at 9:00 am on May 18, 2025.
  • The route will travel along Thousand Oaks Boulevard from Auto Mall Drive/Duesenberg to Conejo School Road.
  • Participants must arrive at the designated assembly area on Auto Mall Drive at the assigned arrival time for check-in and lineup.
  • Traffic routes will be impacted by the parade, please view parade directions for instructions on arrival routes and times.
  • All participants MUST HAVE AN ENTRY PASS printed for their vehicle dashboard to bypass traffic detours to enter the parade staging area.

7. Vehicles and Floats

  • All floats and vehicles must be decorated and maintained in a manner consistent with the parade’s family-friendly atmosphere.
  • Participants operating vehicles must possess a valid driver’s license and insurance and send proof of this in advance to info@conejovalleyparade.org.
  • Floats and vehicles must not exceed the maximum height and width limits specified by the parade organizers.
  • Participants are responsible for the removal of their floats and vehicles from the parade route immediately after the conclusion of the event.

8. Behavior and Conduct

  • Participants are expected to always conduct themselves in a respectful and courteous manner.
  • Offensive language, gestures, or behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Alcohol consumption, smoking, vaping, or possession of illegal substances and firearms is prohibited.

9. Signage and Branding

  • Participants are permitted to display signage and branding that is in line with the parade’s theme and family-friendly nature.
  • Political, religious, or controversial messaging is not allowed.

10. Cleanup Responsibilities

  • Participants are responsible for cleaning up any debris or litter generated by their participation in the parade.
  • Participants are responsible for keeping the staging area clean and free of debris.
  • All horse entrants are responsible for cleaning up after their horses immediately.

11. Compliance with Instructions

  • Participants must follow all instructions and directives given by parade organizers, volunteers, and law enforcement personnel.
  • Failure to comply with these rules and regulations may result in the removal of the participant from the parade and future exclusion from participation in Conejo Valley Parade events. The entry fee is non-refundable and will not be returned in the case any participating unit is removed from the parade.

12. Liability Waiver

  • All participants are required to sign a liability waiver prior to the start of the parade, releasing the organizers from any liability for injuries or damage incurred during the event. Participants grant permission for the use of images or recordings for promotional purposes.

Failure to comply with these rules and regulations may result in the removal of the participant from the parade and future exclusion from participation in Conejo Valley Parade events.
